Beano Superstars: Dennis!

How would I describe myself in three words? I’m sure my mum and dad would pick different words, but I would go for epic, awesome and blam!

You’ll have probably seen me whizzing around the streets of Beanotown after school and at the weekends on my skateboard. I love practicing my blam tricks on ramps and the paths around the shops. If I’m not mid-air or upside down, then I’m most likely to be watching my hero Grizzly Griller on TV or carrying my electric guitar to band practice – I front my own band called Dennis and the Dinmakers. We’re Beanotown’s fastest and loudest garage band!

One person who won’t be buying any of our T-shirts in the future is my number one enemy, Walter Brown. He happens to be the totally annoying son of Beanotown’s mayor, Wilbur Brown and enjoys trying to get me into trouble inside and outside of school – he never gives up.

My pet dog Gnasher never leaves my side. He’s an Abyssinian Wire-Haired Tripehound and my most loyal friend. He enjoys the occasional treat, but if he gets a whiff of sausages, it doesn't matter – he’s off!

I have just one allergy: school! The idea of following the rules just makes me feel rebellious. I still turn up for my lessons and have to disguise Gnasher as a backpack so we can hang out all day. It works, too! But I also have to take in another bag so it looks like I’m going on a short holiday on certain days. 

Along with Gnasher, my best friends are JJ, Rubi and Pie Face (and his potato Paul), and we go on adventures every day. There’s never a dull moment and that’s usually because we’re busy avoiding the wrath of our teacher! There was even a bit of a mega-adventure – some grown-ups have described this as "that robot incident” – at Bash Street School recently, which you can read about here in more detail.
